DEPRAG is a German air motor manufacturer with over 75 years experience in the manufacture of high quality air tools and air motors.  A large range of standard motors are available from 20 W up to 18 kW with or without gearboxes, also including stainless steel bodied motors.  Custom-made motors are also available upon request.

Basic Line Motors: Budget priced 200W, 400W and 600W air motors.  Available with 8 gear variations or without gearing.  Gearboxes are high quality planetary gears on roller bearings for long lifetime even under maximum load.  Vanes can be changed without complete disassembly of the motor. Stainless Steel Bodied Air Motors:  Up to 1,200W.  Constructed from stainless steel, which makes them suitable for the food or petrol chemical industries. ATEX Approved for use in dust or gas contaminated hazardous areas.  Brake motors, drill spindles and grinder spindles available.  All models are available with a threaded spindle on request.  Available in 20W, 80W, 120W, 200W, 300W, 600W & 1,200W power.  Numerous models available.  Download Catalogue  English
Air Motors 1.3 to 18kW:  Modular or complete high powered motors.  Size 9 (1.6kW), 11 (2.6kW) & 13 (3.6kW) motors have standard flanges which are compatible with standard gearboxes.  Motors are available with or without gearboxes.  Download Catalogue   English

Discussion of air motors: Download Catalogue  English
Frequently, air motors are not considered because their high energy consumption is seen as a major disadvantage.  In reality when compared with the total cost of the machine the energy consumption plays only a minor role, especially when small motors with low duty cycles are used.  Unfortunately the many advantages of air motors are also often forgotten.  The fact that the air motor has asserted itself as an essential alternative in the entire drive technology emphasises its numerous advantages.

The main advantage of the air motor is its high performance density, which is only 1/5th the weight or 1/3 the size of an electric motor with comparable performance.  This is not only important in hand held machines, but also in CNC and robotic applications.
The air motor can be stressed to a full standstill and even tolerates a negative turn direction without damage.  The motor will start again as soon as the load is reduced.

Through the expansion of compressed air, the motor is always kept cool while under load.  Overheating through over-load is practically impossible.

In principle the air motor is a safe drive type.  There is virtually no fire danger due to over load and motors can even be run under water with no danger of fire or electrocution.  Large expensive explosion proof electric motors are not always necessary.
Air motors are extremely robust and any necessary repairs can be carried out easily and safely by a trained maintenance person.
